Linkages With Govt. with NGOVT

The Catholic Health Association of Madhya Pradesh is committed towards serving quality of health services as well as enhance accessibility of Government health services to the vulnerable communities. We bring an opportunity for our Member Institutions and other networking organizations to unite together in the fight of communicable and non-communicable disease like people living with HIV, cancer, tuberculosis and other chronic disease. In line with the spirit of Government Collaboration, our four hospitals have been linked with FICTC (Facility Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre) in Badvani, Dindori, Khandwa and Sehore in the year 2019.

According to the Global TB report 2019 ,26,90,000 people fell ill with TB out of which 31% are women and 13% are children. India treatment success rate is 81% which indicates that we have to more focus on treatment in order to achieve our goal. In this view, our two hospitals St. Richards Pumpuri Hospital, Khandwa and Karuna Hospital, Sendhwa have been established as Designated Microscopy Centers (DMC) under the Revised National TB Control Program (RNTCP) which was launched as National Program in 1997. Designated Microscopy Centers is started for every one lac population in the general areas and for every 50,000 population in the tribal, hilly and difficult area. The main aim of DMC is to provide quality of diagnosis at free of cost.

Additional Vihan Care and Support Centre has been established in district Seoni in July 2019 which covers two more district Chhindwara and Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh. It is a national initiative to expand access to essential services, increasing treatment adherence, reduce stigma and discrimination and improve quality of life people living with HIV(PLHIV). The program is designed as the care and support component of the country’s HIV response under National AIDS Control Program. Our Seoni center undertakes different activities at ground level like support group meetings, counselling, awareness sessions, linkages with social security schemes, skill building programs and other government schemes in order to ensure socio-economic upliftment of the PLHIV. We make efforts and advocacy for a better life of patient and overcome stigma and discrimination which help in their rehabilitation. Additional we also focus on screening, testing and registration of PLHIV and TB. Total 1493 patients have been registered till March 2020 in the center.

Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs) and related equipment play a significant role to provide care for sick newborn and reduce IMR (Infant Mortality Rate). In order to full fill this aim our members institution St. Joseph Hospital in Hoshangabad district also runs a Special New Born Care Unit (SNCU) with the support of Vardhaman CSR. It is infrastructure and other support by the Vardhman CSR in which Hospital has been well-equipped itself in order to serve better care and services to the patient especially related to children and women health.

In the context of Primary Health Services, ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) is one of the key components of National Rural Health Mission. She is actually a trained female community health activist of every village. In the furtherance of this, The Catholic Health Association of Madhya Pradesh has been started a project in the collaboration of National Health Mission in November 2019 as a new initiative to empower ASHA with the goal of “Improved community health and accessibility to developmental services through reduced gaps and enhanced health facilities by the empowered ASHA workers.” The Project is being supported by Manos Unidas in order to promote institutional delivery, primely health services, nutrition, maternal and adolescents health, immunization and functionalization of local bodies like regularization of AWCs, PHCs, U-PHCs, SHC, CHC and health and wellness centers, community-based structures related to health in rural areas. Initially it is being implemented in the 4 districts of Madhya Pradesh: Bhopal, Hoshangabad ,Raisen and Sehore with the support of local as well as district level government bodies of National Health Mission.
